Freegal - Free Legal Advice

Who We Are

Daisy Ashworth

I am a Legal Practice Graduate from Leeds Metropolitan University.

I am also the creator and, along with Hannah Richardson and John Scott, co developer of Freegal.co.uk.

I decided to create a legal website offering advice and assistance for two main reasons:

The first is to help people like you. Often, financial and time restraints prevent people from seeking legal advice and assistance. Even when schemes such as Legal Aid and Community Legal Services contracts are in place they are not available to all. For example Legal Aid does not look at the disposable income of a client, simply their earnings.

Because of this many people struggle to pay legal bills and/or simply do not attempt to seek legal guidance.

Freegal does not discriminate against people based on their earning capacity. Any one can seek help and advice from the website at no cost to themselves.

Because of this we hope to help any one who has a legal problem, no matter how big or small. Whatever your question, Freegal aims to offer you assistance.

Secondly, as a Legal Practice graduate I have become increasingly aware of the difficulty my fellow colleagues are facing when entering the Legal Profession. Despite excellent qualifications and brilliant legal experience many need a ‘special something’ when applying to firms.

Freegal offers these graduates the opportunity to use their education and experience for the benefit of you, the client.

Thank you for using www.freegal.co.uk.

John Scott

Back in 2001 I started university in Leeds hoping to be able somehow to get a Law degree. Crazy I thought to myself… but after 3 years of hard work in 2004 I got it and along the way I found that the law itself is pretty misunderstood by the majority of people. Many of the laws that govern us are unknown to the general public, as are many of the rights and liberties we have. When I had completed my LPC in 2006 this became even more apparent. I knew that when I became a Solicitor I wanted to help everyone and help them understand the laws around them.

And then here we have Freegal…the brainchild of a good friend of mine and it’s with this shared hope of bringing the law to everyone that we have begun this website. We want to provide the information to help everyone understand and use the laws to help them, after that’s why they are there, to help us. Law shouldn’t be out of reach of the people who need it and we on Freegal want to bring the Law to you, in a clear and simple form. We want to give you the law that you need.

Hannah Richardson

My name is Hannah Richardson. I studied my undergraduate law degree at Keele University in Staffordshire, graduating in 2001. I then took 4 years out of studying to work in a legal environment before returning to study the LPC in 2005, which I completed at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006.

I am particularly interested in housing law, which I have studied and worked in. I spent eighteen months working with long term homeless people, so I understand the issues surrounding homelessness and other housing problems.

I also spent two years working for an international patent and trademark law firm, so I have an inside view on civil litigation and what happens at trials.

Everyone at Freegal is interested in helping you and delivering legal advice to a high standard, so I hope you find our service useful.

If you have a legal problem which you do not think falls into any of the categories we have listed, please contact someone at Freegal anyway, as we are happy to look into problems for you.
